Hecubah, heir to the dark legacy of the Necromancers of the North, is the self-proclaimed Queen of Necromancers and the chief antagonist of Nox. Her sinister plot centers on using the Orb of Oblivion to reanimate a new army of the dead. Ensconced in the ruins of the Land of the Dead, she commands armies of ogres and zombies, terrorizing the people of Nox as part of her quest for domination.
After the Necromancer War, Jandor spared the life of a small newborn—a girl—on the Fields of Valor. She was the sole survivor of the northern major's cursed blood legacy. Jandor put her in seclusion among the ogres, looked in on her for years, watched her grow, and hoped for the best—until one day, she left and never returned. Ever since, there has been a strange disease in the Land of Nox. Her mastery of necromantic magic eventually allowed her to summon both the Orb and Jack to the Land of Nox, triggering the events that would lead to her downfall.
In all paths of Jack's journey, Hecubah's fate is sealed, but the outcomes differ depending on Jack’s chosen role. As a warrior or conjurer, Jack kills Hecubah, ending her reign of terror. However, as a wizard, Jack is able to purify her soul, transforming her into an innocent, amnesiac version of herself, free from her dark past.

Trivia[]
Name Origin[]
Hecubah is likely derived from the Trojan Queen of the same name, who leapt into the sea after the fall of Troy and was transformed by Hecate into her familiar. Hecate was the Greek goddess of magic, witchcraft, graves, ghost, necromancy, and sorcery.
Age[]
Because the Necromancers are said to have not been seen in 50 years by Henrick, Hecubah must be roughly 50 years old by the time the game begins.
